EXHIBIT JUDGES
Michael D. Stephan
Mike Stephen is the Executive
Director of Potawatomi Wildlife
Park, Tippecanoe, Indiana serving in
that position since 1991. A
Graduate of Huntington University,
he holds a degree in Biology
with an emphasis in Natural
resources and a minor in Natural
Resources. He also holds a
Naturalist Certification from AuSable
Institute of Environmental Science,
Michigan.
During his 17 plus years as director
of Potawatomi Wildlife Park, he
has overseen the expansion of the
park’s acreage by 63% along the
Upper Tippecanoe River watershed.
The parks habitat has also
continued to be developed including
the addition of 44 acres of
warm season grasses in the past two
years. Today the 317 acre
Potawatomi Wildlife Park has a broad
service area of several
counties in northern Indiana with 8%
of its attendance coming from
out of state.
Born in Huntington County, Mr.
Stephan grew up on a 2,000 acre
beef/grain farm that is still in
operation today in both Huntington
and Wabash Counties. An avid
outdoorsman, he is married with
two children. They reside on the
park in Marshall County.

Walter Malicki
Walter Malicki, from Huntington,
Indiana has been an art teacher
with the Whitko Community School
Corporation for Grades 9 to 12
since 1977. He also taught art at
Huntington University from 1979
to 1987. He has both a Bachelor of
Fine Arts degree as well as a
Bachelor of Art Education degree
from the John Herron School of
Art/Indiana University. Mr. Malicki
was awarded a Masters
Degree of Art from Saint Francis
College in Fort Wayne, Indiana in
1981.
He has received numerous
recognitions and awards over his career
that include being recognized by
State of Indiana Resolutions from
1998 to 2008 for international Art
competitions. Some of his
additional recognitions were: Dekko
Einstein Grant for Art Gallery
1998 through 1999, Dekko Award for
Teaching Excellence 2001,
Nominated for “2009 Indiana Teacher
of the Year” by the Whitko
Community School Corporation.
Mr. Malicki has solo shows at Grace
College, Manchester College
and Huntington College. To his
credit many of his students have
received significant awards and
recognitions throughout his tenure
as an art instructor.
