Bev Garner is a native Hoosier whose early years were spent in Henry County in Central Indiana. With a life-long interest in art, she has always loved to draw. Like other small community schools at that time, the Mt. Summit School had no art department or advanced training to develop her talent. Later she was able to study formally with several experienced artists. She was exposed to different media, styles and techniques. When she discovered the range of effects possible with colored pencils, she knew she had found the medium that would allow her to portray the beauty of garden and wildflowers and other natural subjects in the realistic style which she prefers.
